Hi All

Next month, I will be in Orlando with my non-diving girlfriend for a weeks vacation. We are planning a snorkeling trip to Crystal river to swim with the manatees. I plan on bringing my nikonos v camera but had a couple of questions.

1) Between the nikkor 15mm and 35mm lens, which lens would people recommended for manatee photos?
2) Which film would people recommend, given that I dont plan on bringing any strobes - I tend to use either Sensia 400 or Provia 400.

thanks

Luigi

Luigi,
The 15 mm lens is the perfect lens for manatees. Never has any lens been better. It is FAST (good for low light), sharp as anything, and easy to handle in the water. You can get so close that the 35 is not needed.

I would bring a variety of film. The 400 is good in the early morning when light stinks, but later in the day you can do well with 100 and the fine grain is nice. I also like the Ektachrome 200 and Sensia/Astia 200.

Ambient light always looks best with manatees, no need for strobes.
