This is an interesting, if somewhat dry, documentary about Dugongs in Abu Dhabi that I found on ocean.com. No affiliation.

Man, that thing is tolerant of divers!!! The real question is, can it be filmed WITHOUT 10 people surrounding it??

Yes, that Dugon was used to divers or it was just so hungry.;)

Jonathan

No if you go to dive with liveaboard. The best option to rent the car and go there by you self from the beach arly in the morning or late in the afternoon.:(

Great video Sharp, I like the part where you can actually hear that gentle creature eating!

Thank you. That is also my favorit part because you can actually hear the crunchin.

I was also lucky to get myself to the video. I shoot mostly the video myself, but also my buddy, when I was shooting with my still camera (the red INON strobe and Canon WP-DC900 and INON UFL165 domelens).:)

I feel that there is no need of commenting the difference, you know it yourself already...anyhow I hope those videographers reading this thread undestandig the power of narration in UW-videos.

Pasi has also noticed that there is no must to force narration to everywhere...sometimes good shootage is telling more than narration.

First it take a lot time to do narration, but for a time itīs getting quicker and quicker. Also it is very challenging and motivating.

This winter has been very good for my because now I have made four video with narration and sunday Iīm going to shoot fifth video.

By the way, what did you like about this video where we dive to the wreck (http://www.uwphotochat.com/forums/showthread.php?t=735)? No one hasnīt given any comment yet.

When you have more or less educational video there is absolutely must to have narration.

One question stayed to me without answer...what wreck (s you said 3 side by side ), why they are there...story of them.

Maybe shorten the totality little bit...actually when educational details might be more important...anyhow good work Pasi.

Thank you Jukka.

Wrecks have drown time when they were making the two brigdes for cars and trains. They had to fill ships to get them under the bridges, but they fill those too much. So they sank to the bottom of the lake. that would be good idea to add in narration.

You can see those bridges far away on the beginning of the video behind the ice hole where we start our dive.

Pasi,
The dugong video is very enjoyable! Narration adds a lot, and it makes me want to go there!

One suggestion is to be sure that the video shows what you are describing. For example, when you were talking about the shape of the dugong's tail compared with a manatee tail, you should show video of the tail.

Another thing which would help the professionalism of the video would be for the narration to sound more "dead" in the studio. I can hear the room acoustics where it was recorded. One easy way to fix this is to record your narration in a closet half filled with coats and clothes. This makes the sound have no echo at all, and sounds better. (That's the makeshift home iso-booth). I have built a small narration booth in my office, which has acoustic foam on the walls, and it serves as a closet when I'm not narrating.

Thank you Jonathan for the good feedback.

Those are good tips to emprove the results. I feel also that in my "editing room" is too much echo, the sound could be more softer.
