I'm sure everyone that ever shot underwater film camera's has heard the old wheeze.

"No one ever took a good photo with a Nikonos 4"

In a few days I'll see if I can post some photos to prove that a lie.

The Nikonos 4 has it's quirks. But my wife and I have been using ours with great results for years and years. But I fear finding parts for my old work houses may get to hard soon.

Scott,

Your correct about not many parts available for the Nikonos IV. The best thing you can do is have it serviced regularly. The O-ring around the wind advance is one of the first O-rings to fail. If that happens the wind mechanism will rust up and your camera will be a nice paper weight.

Scott,

I have fond, but exasperated memories of my Nik 4. If you'd like to have it as spare parts or for a backup, I'd be happy to ship this one to you. The Nik 4 gave me some good shots as well.

OK, now that is the kind of generous offer that makes a site like this special.

Spoken by a guy who has fixed "a few". :D

If anyone knows about fixing Nikonoses....Fred is the man.

By the way, what is the plural of "Nikonos"? Nikonoses? Nikoni? Nikonees?

Speaking of parts!

I have several battery compartment covers for the Seconic! I bought up the last of the inventory a few years ago. if anyone is in dire need of one let me know.

I also have 5 or 6 meters. one or two may not be functional and I would happily donate these to someone who has a cracked case.

cheers

Nikonos IV-A and Nikonos Speedlight SB101

Does anyone know anything about this gear (pros/cons) and what it's worth... if anything?

Just curious.

Cheers!
Daniel :)
