I am going to the Red Sea in november on a liveaboard cruise. Going on a northern tour that includes thistlegorm. My question is quite simple.
What can I expect of visibility in november. I do not have strobes (yet) for my camera so I would also like to know how deep I can go without having to use strobes.

Hi Allan
You should get at least 20m+ vis
As for strobes, most of my pics on this thread were taken without a strobe.

You could always try a magic filter

I am not able to see your photos. Just red X
I have a "one thouch white balance" on my olympus e-300 and if I use that on a white board at the depths I am shooting, that should help with the blueish color and give a more natural look. ( I hope)
Best regards

White balance plus a "magic" filter (i.e. a red filter) can work wonders on digital cameras. In many situations, you can actually do better than with strobes (like in wide shots where the strobes wouldn't do much anyway. But for other kinds of shots, strobes look better to me.
