Digital Photography Review just published its review of Canon's new compact digital camera (point-n-shoot). You can access it here . . .

Looks like a nice little offering. I was impressed with the shutter release lag time of ~0.08 of a second from half press (already focused) to full press. Wideangle is 36mm, which is "fair." The only thing that really disappointed me was that Canon did not include the ability to record in RAW format. Otherwise, for $450 USD, it looks like a nice little camera.

Ikelite manufactures housings for Canon's S2 and S3 models. I expect Ikelite will have a housing for the S5 fairly soon. ;)

I just bought a second hand S3 IS, basically the same camera with 2 million pixels less. Along with it came Ikelite housing, W20 wideangle lens and a manual EV controller.

I'm waiting for the spring and the ice to melt...

And naturally I'm expecting to be using the 36-432mm zoom a lot underwater

This might be a slick little camera to get for Christine. (She is not interested in lugging an SLR!)
