Signatures

Hi Ryan,
You are not dense. Signatures are a feature on this site reserved for photo pros, Moderators, and eventually, subscribers. At some point in the future when the site gets big and more expensive than it is for me now, I will be looking to bring on a few advertisers and offer a subscribed function to raise a little money to support the site. The Subscription will allow a bunch of additional features for something like $10 a year. The features will include signatures, unlimited image posts and a larger PM mailbox, among other things.

Because signatures are usually used for advertising one's self or business on these boards, they are a feature reserved for people who have paid a little bit for the priviledge.

Many sites like this also reserve avatars and image posting of any kind to subscribers, but this is a photo site, so a free registered user gets avatars and 1 MB of image uploads. I may regret it when I get the bill! :)
