Hi,

Here's one for you guys to debate. Next year I am taking a few months off to dive, relax and enjoy life. I am putting a shortlist of places I fancy diving to see which ones we can get to, but only have the chance to go to a few in the time (as my wife also wants a holiday that does not involve a tank strapped to our backs!) so here's the question:

'If you had the chance to only make one more trip to go diving, where would it be and why?!'

At the moment on the list of possibles we have:

Cocos Islands
Galapagos
Cave diving in South America

All help appreciated!
Andrew

About 4 years ago, my dive buddy and I generated our top 10 "must dive before we die" list. And since then, we have tried to hit each one (one trip every year or two, of course ... lol).

My top 5 are:

1) Truk Lagoon (too many wrecks to name)
2) Bikini Atol (USS Saratoga)
3) South Africa (Great White Shark)
4) Cave diving in Mexico (Nahooch)
5) Andrea Doria (off NY)

We dove Galapagos 2 years ago and it was great diving, but wouldnt go back anytime soon. There are far too many places to see in this world. This year, we dove Truk lagoon and absolutely loved the diving. We would go back in a heartbeat.

Having just returned from the Galapagos.
It was the best diving trip I have ever being on.
Darwin & Wolf are the only sites worth doing, Don't go if they are not on the itinerary.
Oh and the land trips must be included too ;)
Would I go back, no as there is more places on my wish list.
The next big trip will be TRUK

Galapagos for sure, Indonesia for coral/critters, Truk for wrecks. So many great places. Every year I try to hit a few more spots on my "bucket list" and then I also add a couple more to the list, so I will never finish it. I really want to go to the Maldives, South Africa, etc.

I don't know what you folks think, but I would suggest this would make a good "Discussion" topic. Instead of creating threads of this nature under Miscellaneous, have a discussion labelled/labeled The Bucket List.

What do you think?

Sounds good Daniel, it is an old one that never really got off the ground.

Congrats on your promotion by the way!

Actually this is little bit B&W question. Even I have dived in many destinations the list of unvisited sites is endless.

I feel one thing makes diving more intresting is variety of dives. I even love to dive in murky waters of Finland...they have special feeling.

Macro sitedives, wreck dives, warm water, cold water, green water, blue water, cavern dives, night dives, shark dives, big creatures, wierd creatures, biodives, drift dives, dolphin dives, history dives, coral dives, pier dives etc... these I have done, but I am not saying that when I have done those there is no reason to do it anymore.

Kelp forests and whales and icebergs dives I haven't done, but I will.

I think that the locations are chosen based what you can expect to see.

I think my answer is everywhere;)

Hey Jukka,

I am not fussy... I will dive anywhere and at any time! I never need to be asked twice. (well maybe in the middle of winter when it is pouring down with rain, cold and windy).

But you must have some places you are planning to go to or would really like to go in your lifetime??
