Here is my latest icediving pictures. I made my last dive for this year with my friends. Lake is in Eastern Finland and itīs my favorit place.:D

Ice was only 10cm thin. And there is no snow nowhere. Last time we had "black Christhmas" in 1972. Global warming.

Marko is posing under ice.
413

Marko is walking under ice. Itīs very funny feeling to do it. When I do it myself, I feel like penguin.
414

There you can see trees through the ice.
417

First we had to break ice, to make a hole for getting under ice.
415

As you can see, at the winter time we can walk on the ice, when itīs thick enough.

You can see rest of the pictures in my homepage www.pasilensu.com in photogallery Last dive in 2007.

Happy New Year to all of You and good dives for next year!:)

The absence of snow allows some ambient light to reach water. Very nice pictures, are these with your old set (A95)? I read from finnish board that you are getting a new camera. What camera is it?

Yes, those pictures has taken with Power shot A95. New camera is Power shot G9, Ikelite housing, INON domelens and INON makrolens. I Still keep from old set ULCS arm and INON D-2000 strobe. With new set I can take RAW-pictures.

Jukka

Thank you Jukka.

There is the worst nightmare of every icedivers. On the way back we noticed that icehole was frozen again. It was so thick ice that we couldnīt break it below.

613 614

We were lucky that we had still three more iceholes left, and those all were open.:o

Those iceholes was made three days before, thats why it was frozen. We donīt have so cold weather anymore.;)

Thank you Sealizard and Jukka.

We are using two kind of icediving method. One is to use rope to surface, where icediver have personal asistant. That is the most used method. Rope is only 20meter/60feet long. With that rope you will alvaus find you way back to home. Of course you need also diving buddy under water at the same time.

Another method is to dive under ice by using cavediving technic and equipments. We put the guidline from our reel to the bottom of the lake. We do tie off to rocks, stones and woods. The guidline is so thin, that it is diffigult to see on pictures. There is some pictures where you see the diver using the reel.

There is only very few certificated cave divers in Finland, because we dont have natural caves. Iīm trained cave diver and I am cave diving in Finland in mines.
