I have shoot two times under water with my new Canon power shot G9 with Ikelite husing and INON UWL 100 dome. I also have INON D-200 strobe.
I like a lot big LCD. Itīs quite challenging to handle the buttons, because those are wery close together on the right side of the housing. With bare hands it wouldnīt be any problem, but I have to use drysuitglowes, becauce cold waters.;) Any way, I can manage with all buttons and Iīm lerning litle by little for my new camera.:)
I have changed the short port for my ikelite housing, but still my pictures are vignetting. I havenīt that problem earlier when I used canon power shot A95 with WP-DC900 housing and INON UFL 165 dome. Does any one have same problems?
There is two example when pictures are vignetting. I havenīt used zoom at all.

It looks like that this INON UWL 100 is some short of fish eye.
First picture (upper level) is indicating very strong curves, and I think that angle of that is much wider than your earlier one.
If I am shooting with FE, Ikelite is recommending to take shade cover away to avoid it to be seen in in pic. Itself the FE is with fixed focal lenght and that you cannot zoom at all.
I think that only way to take black corner away is to have more shorter port and if it is impossible then you have to zoom black corners away...like you have done in lower pic.
Looks like this G9 is most popular UW-compact camera at the moment!

I have a friend that has the same problem with the buttons on his camera , he found a remedy for it, he had to replace one of his tent poles that are made out of fiberglass with the center being hollow, he cut a 6 inch piece off the old pole and secured to the camera housing with a string, he found a rubber cap for the tubing with a eye for a place to tie off the string it works great to use it on the buttons as the hollow center holds on to the edge of the button while you depress it, he is in Roatan this week or else I would post a picture of it, when he gets home I can send you a picture to explain better

Yes, INON UWL 100 is fish eye. I found info from INON America (http://inonamerica.com/products.php?product_id=190&prodcat=2&subcat=1) website, that angle is on air 179 degree. On water the angel depend of the housing you use. Up 130 ->.
INON Japan (http://www.inon.co.jp/) website is much challenging to reed for my.;) Of course there is also information in english, but not somuch.
Iīd like to know also myself that what is the angle with my set now. I Think that it is at least same that my earlier UFL 165. When I was diving in cave, I felt that the beam from my goodman handle came now much easier to picture. Well, the strobe "melt" the beam away nicely. Here is one excamle picture.

I think also that it is the only solution right now at the moment.

Thank you Roy.
I am looking forward to see pictures about that solution.

The Inon lens needs to be as close to the camera lens as possible or it vignettes a little. I use the same lens sometimes on one of my video housings. By the very nature of the housing that the Inon is on the outside and the camera is on the inside, there is a bit of distance between the Inon and the camera, so the only solution is to zoom in a little.

INON UWL 100 is closer the housing than UFL 165. To work perfectly INON UFL 165 had to get water betveen housing and lens. I aways tooked UFL 165 lens away under water begining of dives, and let all airbubbles away so that lens worked well. But UWL 100 have so long tread (hope itīs the right word), that itīs impossible rotate away under water.
A question for G9 owners. On the G9, there are 2 custom settings, C1 and C2, on the mode dial that you can set up the way you want. Does this allow you to set a specific zoom amount that it will go to when you use it? It would be helpful to find the minimum amount of zoom needed to get rid of the vignetting and have it go there as a default. The other custom setting could be zoomed out until it almost hits the port (particularly useful when using the short port) so you wouldn't have to bang the lens against the port every time you zoomed for macro shots. I'm considering this camera as a possible replacement for my Olympus C-5050 but don't have enough info. yet to know if it's worth the money to do so. On the C-5050, I have 8 custom settings, and it will remember the amount of zoom on each. Thanks

I havenīt use the macrolens yet. Itīs going to take some time, because I use normaly dome in lakes and makro in warm waters like Red Sea.

I have seen more and more pics with this G9 and I have a feeling that we will see many great pics with this camera.
Underwater possibility to have RAW, UW-macro/wide change+video+ 3 inch LCD with 370 grams makes me l think that I have for same actions at least 6000 grams...without saying nothing about housings, ports etc:confused:
What is manual range of apperature of G9...f4,8?
Second question I have, that what are the values camera uses in these scene modes...is there something you can't do manually?

You can't use strobe with TTL on Manual mode.
