David, here is something.
I am not behind the lens...I have a main role in film. I am the one who have lamp in hand and little yellow in my suit.
Amazing thing is that these footages has been done with compact camera...Olympus WZ7070. Videographer is my old friend Martin, DM from Living Colours Dive Center in Bunaken, who followed me to Raja Ampat to have his own holiday.

On a finnish board someone was saying that there is a tongue parasite inside his mouth (you can see the eyes). Is this true? What kind of a parasite is it? Does anyone know more ?

Old movies shows how they catch diver leg and...
Actually inside of clam was so full of something that it could close the "mouth" only half way!

My planned time in Divers Lodge was 3 and half day, but due to flight problems the real was only 1,5 days. You should know that the flying is more and more difficult..they are saying that it is because of growth of air trafic...I don't know maybe it is only maximacing of profit?
When shooting both video and still I dont have many pics, but here are some to look:

I find it a little bit funny, but in a finnish diving board, where Jukka has similar thread with all these cool pictures, most of the feedback is all uhh.. and ahh... as supposed to be, but now some people are complaining that there should not be any photos posted in threads as they take so long to download!
There is a gallery for photos on that board, but really, threads like this are the salt of internet!
(just letting you guys know and venting some steam out...!)

Hi gang!
Just entering to last days of my visit to Philippines.
Internet connection is limiting the posting of pictures...sorry...more to come when I will be back home next week.
I spent my first week in Moalboal, which was mainly wall diving, but lot of creatures all the time to play with.
Second week I have spent in Dumaquete, which mainly was sandy bottom dives. It was little bit same feeling than Lembeh have. There was also one day trip to Apo island, which was wall diving.
Here some results:

Sharp actually I have tried different calibrating programs without positive result...so I did like always before adjusted RAW-files with PC. I can see with my Mac that quality is not the same, but PC is showing them OK. Sorry Mac users I have not solution to different quality yet.
We often have discussed about different lenses...many have suggested 50 to 60 mm macro lenses, because they have variety of shooting different size of objects.
Here is an example:
Both pictures have been taken with 50 mm fixed focal lenght lens.
In first one you find anemon, size about 30 cm. Down left corner you can find red circle and inside there is something red and white:

Jukka,
Those are great pictures to show... 1 how versatile the 50mm (or 60mm) lens is, 2. How small they actually are 3. How good your eye sight is for spotting the small critter!
I have found that I can use the lens on 90% of dives and not be disappointed.

Panga boats are special type of boats in Philippines ( and I think in some other locations also ). They are very narrow and they are stabilized with sort of wings made from bambu trees.

Jello is actually not very good picture, but I put it here, because it was something new.
We all now the rule of golden triangle in photographing/composition, but is it really the truth...if everybody are doing always same way the same picture is done zillion time. I had time in Philippines to play with porcelain crab and I tried to break this golden rule. Evaluate yourself and give a comment.

I'm no expert in the subject matter, so I'll offer an opinion. The so-called rules are meant to be guidelines. Experimenting and applying different techniques lends itself to creative expression. As they say, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. :)

Jukka,
I like the second one the best, although I'll preface that by saying that it would be better if the crab was looking the other way, as if walking into the frame, rather than looking like it's on the way out of the frame.
However, unconventional compositions are sometimes handy. For example, this image also would make a good magazine or book cover (or DVD case cover) where you would wrap it all the way around the spine to the back. You would end up with the crab in the middle of the cover, and the back of the book would just be nice anemone texture, which is perfect as a background for text.
I try to shoot images like this now and end as well. When you have a cooperative subject, it is a very fun exercise to try alternative compositions and some work well.

:D Yes I was saying it to crab zillion times....turn, turn turn...but this stubborn crab didn't obey...maybe the key words would have been...don't move, don't move, don't move.:D

I have started to think to make a picture book after 5 to 10 years or so, which means that I should make these unconvential compositions more.
Actually I have started to collect " the best ones " to my safe box.
Actually what I have seen in these books, inner pics of the books are not having pictures with empedded text. Anyhow I felt good by trying something new.
Lately I have been little frustrated due to not getting really something new into photos and it is leaving little bit empty feeling.
I try to shoot images like this now and end as well. When you have a cooperative subject, it is a very fun exercise to try alternative compositions and some work well.
New challenges and new results are the targets which keeps me also running...
