Not a especially good shot, but still an interesting critter, this hermit crab had three anemones on its shell.
Any one else got any crab picture to share?

a couple more hermits
This tiny guy was from Belize

The bigger hermit had flipped the smaller onto its back, exposing the opening of the shell. Was this mating or predation?

Great shots!
The big hermit might be checking out the little fellows shell. I used to have two hermit crabs in an aquarium. Whenever they bumped into each other the larger one would check out the shell that the smaller one was wearing. Often the result was that the smaller one got flipped onto his back and had his shell stolen. When the larger one had departed the small crab would move into the vacant shell and head off in the opposite direction.

Beau Gust...I think this one is one of the best I have ever seen!
I try to analyze why:
1 Combosition is pleasing my eye
2 Blur/sharp area is in balance
3 The object itself jums out from the picture like 3D
4 You have gotten hairs on the back clearly to be seen
Maybe there is something else also, which I can't analyze...the key thing is that it's pleasing my eye
So congratulation of exellent picture!

Some decorator crabs.
This guy in Lembeh was holding a fire urchin on its back for protection. The urchin didn't look too happy about it.

This one in Raja Ampat had kidnapped an upside down jellyfish.

This is a neck crab from Belize. It has planted red algae all over its body to hide him.

When I shot this guy at night in Belize, I though I had only taken a picture of this well decorated crab. Some pointed out the eye of the scorpionfish he is sitting on. Acting as a cleaner?

That is a "cool" shot for a number of different reasons. At first glance, you wouldn't automatically think it is an underwater shot. It certainly has a seasonal look to it. The lighting gives it perspective and depth of field. Plus the subject looks cool blue. :)

Thanks, Daniel! That was one of the really tiny (1" or less) crabs I found on that trip.

Thank you Daniel.
The picture has taken in 5 meter depth with natural sun light. I took the stillpicture with my UW-videocamera SONY DCR-HC96. I was very happy of the quality of that picture.
Half of the crabs in that lake are normal brown colored and another half are blue/green ones.
