I'll bet everybody has a shot like this, but things tend toward cliche only when there's something good about them, right? Any ideas on how to make these shots stand out from the rest? Here's my wife (Sharon) in the traditional pose, but I hoped her interaction with the little trumpetfish would add some interest:

I love the trumpetfish! That adds a great additional level of interest to the shot! How did you train him to do that? :p
What wreck is this?

The shot is a bit of an illusion. It's the little La Machaca wreck in front of Capt. Don's in Bonaire. It's in only about 40' of water, so I stopped down to f11 with a shutter speed of 1/90th with a Nik V/15mm (Velvia 50 film) to create a feeling of depth. The only tough part was getting inside the wreck, which lies upside down. It was a very tight squeeze, and I had to lay there for several minutes for the sand to settle. When I looked up, I saw Sharon staring at me as if I had lost my mind, and I also saw the trumpetfish. I directed her attention to it, and that's the shot. I'll add that this is the last shot the strobe (big, fat, battery-eating Nikon 102) ever made. It bit the brine on the very next dive, probably due to sand corrupting the main 0-ring seal. -Clay

Oh man, I have one of those old 102's in the closet somewhere. What a battery hog that sucker was! I flooded mine eventually too and finally retired it!

Mine's a pencil holder now. I'm looking right at it. -Clay

Pencil holder! I love it!
I think I actually had mine fixed after I flooded it, then I was like "Why did I do that?" And never used it again!

Well this is not so much different than the rest. Except it is not a wreck hole, but the space between the rudder and propeller-blade of Dunraven in the red sea.
