These are some of the first (tropical) pictures I took with a DSLR.
a couple of months ago I bought an Canon 40D with ikelite housing and DS 125 strobes.
I started with an olympus c5050 compact camera a couple of years ago, so this is a big step up for me.
I'm very interested in your feedback / tips..
cheers, Daniel

SUH-weet!!!!!
I especially liked the schooling Barracuda shot.
Sun-balls look pretty good too.
Sipadan and Mabul are great places to try out a new DSLR. ;)

Love the ones with the sun, like others. Great composition in those turtle / sun pictures!

thank you all for the kind compliments, glad you guys like the pictures :)
Getting the sun in the picture was kind of a pain in the..
I found it difficult to control the intensity of the sun, I wanted a bit of the environment to be seen (the blue or the reef) and also ofcourse the subject.
With the sun in the picture (and thus stopping it down) it was difficult to get enough strobelight on the subject.
somehow I managed to get some good shots, but ofcourse that was only with the boring subjects... :D
I'll see if I can upload an example (already close to my maximum...)

here's one with more detail..
somehow it seemed to work in this picture although I "only" had a aperture of f8 & a shutterspeed of 1/250th of a second
iso was 100.
anyone any suggestions on this matter?
cheers, Daniel

Good work!
You are reviving great memories. I really want to go back to Sipadan. What was the dive site where you shot the pygmy seahorse?

a good nights sleep can deliver some insights I guess: depth
that must be the reason why there's more detail, or am I missing something?
Pierre/ Tarczy: Sipadan is awesome and indeed a good place to try out such a great camera.
The amount of turtles is stunning and I must say I've never seen such big schools of fish in my life. Mabul itself is also a very nice island, great for macro.
have to start saving to go back :D
I found the pygmee seahorse (with help from the diveguide) either on Mantapoint or lobster wall on Mabul.
