Hi, I was wondering if anyone has any experience with the Olympus SP-550UZ. I have found one at a really good price with the Olympus Pt-037 housing. The housing has never been used and the camera is in great shape. Both are selling for 389.00 dollars.

Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I'm sorry to say that I know nothing about the camera. We have a few experts on the compact cameras here on the site. Hopefully one will chime in.

I dont know also about Olympus cameras. I have always used Canon compact cameras.

The price 389$ is so cheap that I recommend you to buy it and start to shoot. Many of my friends have different Olympus compact cameras and they have got good results, so go for it.

Check out the Digital Photography Review of your camera by clicking here (http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/olympussp550uz/). Generally, the camera was only rated "above average" and one of the cons was purple fringing and chromatic aberration . . . something I experienced with my old Olympus 5050. Seriously . . . it drove me nuts.

I went ahead and bought the camera. Since the underwater housing alone was going for 275.00-389.00 on ebay and the camera was going for around 250.00 alone. I figured that I couldn't go wrong with this. So far I am happy with it. The automatic setting do well in well lit areas, but in dim lighting it's pretty touchy. I had to use manual settings and set the focus, shutter speed, and aperture myself. But, overall after figuring out what to set it on it takes pretty good photos.

I haven't had a chance to take it to open water yet, only in the pool. But, after working out the settings I have high hopes of some good pics. I will have to get at least 1 strobe for it, maybe 2 as the built in flash doesn't do very well. I do have to say that as far as the quality of the product the camera feels very solid and the underwater housing is awesome. Thanks for your help.

I had also in past Oly WZ 5060 ( as very many others ). To develope the quality and use, I added to my set external flash, macro and wide anle lens which could be change UW.
