That water looks shallow enough that you could have shot them with a snorkel. What's the water temp?
Sure is quiet around here. Pierre is in France working. I haven't been diving in a month (I'm editing). But I'm going to Holbox in 10 days, then Galapagos in August, Florida in Sept, Curacao in Oct for the coral spawn and Raja Ampat in November, so I'll have something new to post in the coming months.
We need some new travel threads. Who is diving next month?

Hi guys, was just thinking the same about being quite. Housing just back from Ikelite today after having a TTL upgrade for my 50d so will test it out on a few dives here over the forthcoming few weeks. Then nothing until my Galapagos trip in August (when are you guys going?) and then Mozambique in October...
Solisti, those perch seem kinda friendly. Are they the same ones that you can eat with chips?

Didn't realize you guys were so bored :p , we're usually out every weekend, though we don't post all our pictures on this site. Here's some wreck diving from May 2009 in Tobermory.

Very nice photos, Sharp!
Thank you sscubagirl. Those perches are quite diffigult to get close enough with macro lens, but I have shooted these pictures on the top of the old wreck where is caming big schools of perches in the late summer. Unfotunately that day when I went there, there was only few perches. I have to go there after few week, so perhaps there will be big schools then.
There is few more.

Did some shooting couple of days ago, but had serious issues with AF due to awfull visibility. These two could be salvaged anyway and I did some heavy cleaning with GIMP (especially with the pike). I think I managed to transform a decent ruffe pic into quite good and the crappy pike into half-decent. What do you think?

Both pisctures are good. Ruffe picture look natural. On the pike picture it look like there would be like white smoke on the background. That smoke give mysterious feeling, when the pike is on the glear water.

Here is two of my best pictures for this summer of school of perches. Those pictures show the beautiful Finnish nature of underwater world. In my favorite lake there is not often perches and only few times in the year schools. Those are more affraid that pike.
On that day I was lucky. Sun was shining and schools of perches.

I actually like the last one with the 2 perch hiding and the photographer in the background... this is a typical situation and tells a story... diver with camera trying to take picture... fish hide in a place you can't photograph them!!
I also agree with Jukka like the face on one too and holds my attention to look closer.

Pasi...in this picture is really something...but I can not say really what it is:eek:
Maybe it is composition....the perch is dominating one and in rather surprising place in picture. Actually the first thing you look in picture is diver and that is not dominating one. There are also several levels in picture like sun rays.
Just interesting...

Yes, the perch was almost touching my dome. That part of the lake and wreck of pirch is that kind of that there is only sandy bottom which is dropping quickly. It give also other feeling that like this one which I like a lott becauce of very good viz.

Thats true Andrew. Sometimes fishes are very difficult positions and if you go too near the bottom, you start to do silt out.

Yes I haven't yet. I just solved my homepage problem only three days ago. I have done all my Eilat pictures with Lightroom. Now I just have to select the best ones and work those with Jalbum. After that I can put them to my home page and deliver to UPC page. I promice, I will get everything ready in January.
I have waited long time to get these Valkiajärvi pictures to my homepage that I am so thrilled to see them.
Eilat pictures are good, but not superb. It was first time when I get my rig to under water. I definitely need to practice with it under water.
