I just realized today that I can't stay at the Transit hotel in Singapore because I have to collect my bags which means I have to go through customs, and then I can't get back into the airport until the next morning to check in (with Silk Air on the way in, and with Air Canada on the way back). I've heard the only close option is the Changi Crowne Plaza, but they seem to charge a fortune.
Is anyone else going to be stuck doing this on the Raja Ampat trip? Then again, I may not have this problem on the way back because Air Canada allows you to print your own boarding passes but Silk Air does not.

I'm booked all the way through. We'll see if this was a mistake! Last time I did this I stayed a night in Singapore near the airport, but I can't remember the hotel for the life of me, unless I wrote it in the lembeh thread.

Uhmmmmm . . . there's always the Singapore St. Regis in the center of town.

There are lots of hotels in Singapore to choose from, in all sorts of price ranges. Don't worry about distance from the airport; Singapore is a small island and at the most will only take 30 minutes to get to airport. :)

Off topic: Does anyone know what sort of plug adapters I will need for Lembeh (Diver's Lodge) and for the liveaboard in RA (MSY Seahorse)? I've heard there are two types of prongs in use in that area. Also, my laptop has a 3 pronged plug; is there such as thing as a 3 pronged adapter or will my laptop not be grounded for the duration of the trip? All of my electronics have the correct voltage for use overseas but the plugs are north american. Any tips appreciated.

Most of the adapters I have used are the British-style, 3-prong. If you get (or have) one of those universal adapters that have all styles, you should have no problem. I don't they are that expensive to buy either.
