I'm no caver (they don't call me "wrongway" for nothing), but I enjoy spring diving. Who has some cavern shots? Here's one from the Rainbow River:

Do cenotes count??

I never thought I would enjoy cave diving, but I really had a blast in the cenotes! It's not "real" cave diving, but it's a lot like it.

Yes, those were all at Dos Ojos in Mexico. It was my first experience with cenote diving and shooting in that kind of environment, using slave strobes, etc. I did it with a Nik V and a 15. If I were to do it again, the pics would be better (these scans are a little crappy too). It's very challenging to shoot these because the walls and rock formations are pure white and overexpose very easily, but the rest of the scene is as dark as night and the water just swallows light. Very tricky. Very clear water though, so no backscatter as long as nobody kicks it up. Amazing place to take pics, but you need at least two assistants to hold strobes and model. It's hard to place the lights for good effect of backlighting people and objects and to be sure they all trigger. This is a place where digital would rule, because you can see when things aren't working. I would love to go do it again.

I've never done any cenotes on the Yucatan. Let me know if you'd like to try it again. -Clay

Here are a couple I took from northern Florida last year using my nikonos V/15mm lens. One is cavern, and one is cave diving.

I don't recognize the cavern in the first shot. Where was that taken? -Clay

No cavern shots, but a few cave shots from two different mines here in Finland. Those warm water real caves look really tempting... I have only been to one real cave and it sure was not warm, air 10C and water 8C. And there were a lot of bats and other blood sucking creatures...

Those are some nice, crisp images, jhaaja. Could you give us more info on how and where they were taken?- Clay
